Steven Meyer - Executive Director

Executive Director – Steven Meyer

Steven is the current Administrator for the Performing Arts Department at Truckee Meadows Community College. He has an extensive business background in management and uses both his business skills and performance experience to guide the chorus as NGMC Executive Director, since 2015, although he has been a performing member since 2013. Steven was a professional dancer and has performed significant dance roles, many with Nevada Festival Ballet. As a baritone, he joined Nevada Opera at the age of 16 for the American Premier of Tchaikovsky’s Joan of Arc and continued on as a chorus member, choreographer and resident artist performing such roles as: John Styx in Orpheus in the Underworld, The Judge in Trial by Jury, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Yakuside in Madame Butterfly, Alcindoro in La Boheme, Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore, Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance, The Marchese d‘Obigny in La traviata, Nitch in The Merry Widow, and Pooh-Bah in The Mikado. He has also been featured with the University of Nevada Reno Opera Theatre Department, as: Melchoir in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden, and many others. His roles with the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company include: Bill Calhoun in Kiss Me Kate, Rooster in Annie, Sparky in Forever Plaid, Phil Davis in White Christmas and, most recently, as The Bishop and understudy to Inspector Javert in Les Miserables. He was co-star of the Trace Robbers productions Cole Porter tribute “Simply Cole” and the Americana show “The Spirit of America,” both of which played for 16 weeks in the showroom at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. He brings this vast experience to his leadership position at NGMC.
